Please leave a comment on this post, giving your 1st, 2nd and 3rd choices. You can pick from any 2015 F1 team, plus Caterham and Sauber from 2014. As in real life only 2 cars are available per team.
Cars will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. However, if you find a teammate for the constructors championship, you’ll get priority over individual drivers. Only 1 driver from each team needs to give their car preference and say who their teammate will be. You should also try to think up an entertaining team name :)
We can still form new teams once the championship is underway, so don’t worry if you can’t arrange anything yet. You’ll find Steam profile links for each signed up driver, so go ahead, make some friends! ;)
This weekend is our last double-25% race shakedown event. Format is as before, with 20 minutes qualifying before each race.
We’ll be driving at two new circuits: Sochi and Shanghai.
There will soon be download links available for all mod tracks in the first half of the calendar. Keep an eye on the calendar announcement for the update.
The most critical element to the success of our league has been the fair and sensible attitudes of our drivers. With such an influx of new racers I thought it’d be a good idea to have a little recap of what we expect of each of you during our events.
By far the best place to start is by having a good look through our rule book. Over the years we’ve developed these rules to reflect our vision for a fair, competitive and fun environment.
2. You’ll never win the race on the first lap
Lap 1 incidents can be particularly frustrating; while it’s incredibly easy to get carried away and make a desperate lunge on the first lap, there’s more than a fair chance that you or someone else will end up facing the wrong way.
3. Never give up
So, you’ve ended up in the gravel at turn 1 and you’re now 30 seconds behind the pack. Time to quit? Don’t do it. We don’t look favourably on rage quitting, and with the long race distances the chance of you picking up some points remains high. Change your strategy, keep pushing. Only the weak surrender.
4. We all make mistakes
We’ve all done it. Hit the brakes 10 meters later than usual and run out of talent at a critical moment and in the process punted off the unsuspecting chap on the outside. The successful Flag-to-Flag racer pops a quick apology over teamspeak and gives the place back irrespective of how many places it costs him.
5. Don’t be an ass Be nice to each other
We’re all competitive people and although it may feel like life and death, there’s very little worth getting genuinely upset about. If you feel you’ve been wronged or disadvantaged unfairly by another driver calmly mention it on teamspeak; if it can’t be resolved then be sure to save your replay and get your evidence in front of our stewarding team who will objectively assess your grievance.
If you’ve got any questions, concerns or would just like something clarifying make sure you get in touch. We’d much rather sort things out in the pre-season than during a race.
Remember, only your best 12 of 15 results will count, so it doesn’t matter if you miss a few races. Download links are provided for some of the mods above – more will be available in due course.
Since we’re running our league at the same time as the real sport, we’ll be syncing up with the real calendar where possible – at Budapest, Spa, Monza, Suzuka, Austin and Interlagos.
A new version of the ACF1 car is also on the way, so keep an eye on the website! v2.5 will be the last major update as we build up to the league start in a few weeks.
There have been a lot of subtle changes, but the most improvement has been in the brakes, tyre behaviour, engine power curve, aerodynamics and car setup. Don’t try to load your old setups from v2 or earlier!
More detailed info on the work we’ve done will be written up soon for the nerds (like myself) to enjoy :)
Click the button below to download the mod as a zip archive. Please uninstall the old version first from the control panel; full instructions are included.
Meanwhile, we’re close to finalising our plans for the ACF1 league format.
We’re planning to race on Saturday evenings, and will begin with a test race on 11th July before the start of the season proper at Silverstone on 18th July. The full calendar will be confirmed soon.
