Some important announcements ahead of the league start this weekend at Silverstone…
Downloads!
The ACF1 car is updated to v2.65. The only changes are a slightly shorter gearbox (so 8th gear is more useful) and faster damage repair in the pits (to reduce frustration if you have an accident).
The apps package is updated to v1.3. We’ve tweaked the sensitivity of the track cutting detector.
The AC server password for the league race will be visible at the top of TeamSpeak. TS server details are at the bottom of the page.
Drivers must not keep their sound muted in TeamSpeak, otherwise we can’t communicate! Muting your microphone is fine to avoid feedback from your game/wheel.
Please keep quiet at the end of qualifying and the race until everyone has finished driving.
Race Format & Points
The race distance will be 50% (26 laps of Silverstone), with 20 minutes qualifying. Before qualifying we will do a few practice starts, like last weekend.
Points system: given the large number of drivers, we will slightly extend the F1 system so that 12th place gets 1 point. The full points allocation will be: 25-18-15-12-10-8-6-5-4-3-2-1.
Cars & Teams
The 2014 Sauber is now also available for selection.
Any regular drivers who have not picked a car may leave a comment with your preferences on the Car Allocations post. It’s not too late to arrange a teammate!
Please leave a comment on this post, giving your 1st, 2nd and 3rd choices. You can pick from any 2015 F1 team, plus Caterham and Sauber from 2014. As in real life only 2 cars are available per team.
Cars will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. However, if you find a teammate for the constructors championship, you’ll get priority over individual drivers. Only 1 driver from each team needs to give their car preference and say who their teammate will be. You should also try to think up an entertaining team name :)
We can still form new teams once the championship is underway, so don’t worry if you can’t arrange anything yet. You’ll find Steam profile links for each signed up driver, so go ahead, make some friends! ;)
Remember, only your best 12 of 15 results will count, so it doesn’t matter if you miss a few races. Download links are provided for some of the mods above – more will be available in due course.
Since we’re running our league at the same time as the real sport, we’ll be syncing up with the real calendar where possible – at Budapest, Spa, Monza, Suzuka, Austin and Interlagos.
There have been a lot of subtle changes, but the most improvement has been in the brakes, tyre behaviour, engine power curve, aerodynamics and car setup. Don’t try to load your old setups from v2 or earlier!
More detailed info on the work we’ve done will be written up soon for the nerds (like myself) to enjoy :)
Click the button below to download the mod as a zip archive. Please uninstall the old version first from the control panel; full instructions are included.
Meanwhile, we’re close to finalising our plans for the ACF1 league format.
We’re planning to race on Saturday evenings, and will begin with a test race on 11th July before the start of the season proper at Silverstone on 18th July. The full calendar will be confirmed soon.
