  1. An underrated and under the radar little track, this one. I would prefer it billiard table smooth like in real life, but there are still some cracking sections.

    What’s your favourite? I’d go with Estoril (the right hand sweeper at the start of the lap), but the fast chicanes are a good challenge to be precise and fast.

    • Can’t pick a favourite corner – Estoril, right-hander at END of lap where you nearly hit barrier, Silverstone-Copse/Stowe, Spa-Pouhon/Eau Rouge, Albert Park-big chicane, Hungary-blind, fast left-hander, RB Ring-esses, Brands Hatch, blind fast right-hander towards end, Jerez – fast double right towards end, Paul Ricard, fast long right-hander at end, Japan-esses (and great chicane at end), Laguna-corkscrew.

      Favourite section-Silverstone-all sections apart from the Tilke bit, Catalunya-all sections apart from the Tilke bit, RB Ring – all sections apart from the Tilke bit….. Hmm, that talentless idiot has a lot to answer.

    • That’s a rather full answer Bob, but I was just referring to Magny Cours. Estoril is the name of the right hander at the start of Magny Cours because it is modelled after the last turn at Estoril. Sorry, it is confusing having corners at a track named after other tracks isn’t it!

      Well, maybe we should follow-up on my wrong answer – “the all-time greatest corner in F1”?

      AND my vote is Brands Hatch “Sheen curve”, the most ridiculous leap of faith in F1.

    • I very much like the Estoril too and the 180°, this are from those corners where you can set your own way through it based on your driving. We’re missing a lot this type of corners in F1 today, where there’s only one fast (tilke’s) line and if your not there for a bit, you’re screwed.

  2. I always found it difficult to pick out just one corner. A single corner no matter how great it may be just doesn’t feel the same if the rest of the track doesn’t work.
    Suzuka is my favourite circuit and I couldn’t tell you which corner is my favourite because they are all so good.

    However, I really do like this track aswell. Estoril corner and the first two chicanes are amazing. Then general flow isn’t bad either albeit I don’t think it’s up to par with Suzuka or Monaco or the common big names. I think I’m enjoying the track so much right now because the last time I’ve driven it must have been in the PS2 and it feels a bit nostalgic and new at the same time.

  3. Hell of a race that! Pole, yay, first into T1, happy days. I noticed Marcelinho was ahead of Monolith but he had Soft tyres and I just don’t think it’s a race tyre. So that was a good thing but eventually Monolith got past and he closed down the few seconds I had. Crucially, I made some time on the laps before the stop.

    Monolith closed me down again but it’s a difficult track to pass on so I just tried not to throw away and make it easy for him. Really absorbing race, so much so I lost track of the laps until I noticed there were two to go. It really flew by. Great racing Monolith!

    • Yea, it really was a hell of a race.
      This could really develop into a nice championship battle. As long as I can actually manage to beat you again. Felt like I might have challenged you a lot more in Forli Ring if I hadnt gotten stuck behind CMR and in this race I felt like it all might have been different if I had gotten pole, which was absolutly possible. I just should have stuck to the hard tyres.
      A lot of ifs here though…

      Anyway I’m looking forward to more races like yesterday. Maybe just with a little different outcome ;)

  4. I’ve had some great races with Monolith too – alas, it seems I need to wait for a new car for that again, but in the meantime Pensionisti is catching me up and he definitely has age on his side.

    My race – weird. As you say, softs weren’t great (I sense a mid-season car update coming after Jerez;)) – I got into the “locking the fronts” trap first stint and each time you do it you ensure it happens on the next corner as the tyres don’t recover. Made my one big mistake of the race spinning out in front of the Dragon and it may have cost me a podium in the end.

    2nd stint way better, but I was driving like a whoosy from the 1st stint. Took me too many laps to work out that driving like that wasn’t warming up the tyres enough and once it clicked it was a bit late.

    Not a bad day all-in-all for the Pink team, hope we get better numbers next race.

My best race so far! there was traffic on quali, (someone had decided to stop right in middle of the racing line before the chicanes on my fastest lap) and couldn’t better than 7-th. the race started good, after 8-9 laps the soft tires was almost lost, so decided to pit before elgurke and bobby that was in front of me so i could gain a bit from new tyres. and it almost worked i wouldn’t spin on the chicanes and cost me a lot time, so couldn’t catch bobby again although i was closing the gap a lot.
    Anyway just one mistake in the race, i am very happy :) . Also happy my first overtakes was good and fair.
    LOL, Hope bobby doesn’t DNF if i pass, as looks everyone that i pass DNF’s after few laps :P
