  1. didnt see 2nd question – setup is same as Kunos – ie: what you want. I havent been able to open diff settings, but Ive changed the default to feel a lot less like a barge. Calendar is the picture above

  2. Me, Dave obviously, Dmitry will definitely be up for it, Haago interested, Matt for sure, Mixa/Crucifier also keen but more guest-like appearances, VSX is going to try and get some mates to join, Maxi can join for start of season, Cyplix up for guest appearances, Jay possible, Rage will post on his forum. All good for existing guys, but we need some new blood for sure.

  3. Great stuff, you have some good drivers to coerce into teammates, so I’ll leave that to you. Before 1st race on 28th I will pair up anyone who hasn’t got a teammate

  4. He’s your mate anyway I was just making sure people have teammates, so for sure team up with him. I’ll give you Ferrari livery anyway – we’re not scoring points at the mo.

  5. I just put your liveries on server. however, our software here won’t add the skin (probably as name is too long for our database) so you’re in the standard Ferrari at the moment. I’m not sure if changing the skin name to a shorter one is that simple, but if you can do it I’ll add the renamed ones to the skinpack.

  6. Still practice race tonight, so no panic. I’ll add the Porsche skin to the list – teammate will be Das Taur

Skins will be set during the week, have you read up on the upgrades yet?

Meet you later in Discord voice chat

  7. Nice to meet you guys.

Make sure you’re on our Discord server https://discordapp.com/invite/FGvrE8d which is where we do most chat/announcements. Feel free to announce yourselves there as we are a bit shy sometimes :) Download all the apps from the race event post and in particular the car which is upgraded physics for league racing.

Finally get on that server to see where you stand and feel free to ask questions. We have every level from fast to erm… not fast, so don’t worry about falling behind and if you do we will help.

  8. Nice, we’re slowly building numbers, maybe we should be thinking about setting a league start date now as not many people are turning out for practice races.

Current plan is a practice race Sunday with VRC 2005 cars, then week following Weds & Sunday with Hybrid X.

  9. Well, as a “World” league and what with us putting these leagues on hold now, that rather appropriately makes me a 2x World Champion! I’d like to thank my great team for giving me such amazing cars, I’d like to also thank my sponsors “Brew UK” and above all I’d like to thank all those who didn’t turn up as without them “off” track this could surely not have happened.

The fight goes on and we’ll continue to run more casual sessions every Wednesday with a quali & race. Would also be great if we can hit the track regularly in the evenings and possibly attract more visitors. Who knows!

  10. Shocking race for me, tried something with setup that felt great but didnt deliver laptimes. Pitted early to see if I could get a bit of undercut going with the mediums, but wasn’t making great head ways, then my race came to an unfortunate end at 320R. Had to dive-in lap 10, repair car a bit and limp home on hards.

Scary pace from Urmas, especially quali and great first race from the Nosey Guy!

Also, nice to have Shady in replacing “auto-Bob”. If I keep driving like this I might have to join him !

  11. Yes – a couple this week so I’ll find you a teammate b4 race wednesday – that said, any skin preferences/ do you have your own?. If you are joining us Weds, make sure you download all the stuff on the race event post :-

    https://flag-to-flag.com/event/ac-rss-2019-league-japanese-gp/

Event starts Weds 19:30 UK time, 20:20 Europe. Join us in voice channel. We are racing for the 1st time with the Safety Car as an option, so need to go through that with everyone.

  12. Awesome race, nice to have more people. Well done Team BDS, I would say our strategy was a success. Great race from Seymohre, you got some decent scalps there.

My race, stuck in behind you guys drinking far more electricity than I expected and keeping up better than I expected. Musta been trying quite hard as I span out on the 1st stint, something I never do. C4 was a killer to do 9 laps on, but knew that 8 laps would maybe be a step too far for the C2s next stint. Pleased with my result though as we had some good guys out there tonight. Obviously, I slowed down at the line to make Ninja think he had a chance to beat me, but it was all in hand.

Oh and nice to see Marcel back for a guest appearance.

..and welcome to the new guys, you will fit in just fine.

  13. Once you’re filled-in you won’t be far behind at all, you’ll certainly be past me. Will go through setups and do a bit of explaining the easy-peasy ERS modes. Sounds like Frenzy wants a teammate – wanna negotiate with him on car?

  14. A game of two halves for me, had great battle with Frenzy in first half of race – he pulled away slowly for the first few laps then his tyres brought him back to me. Got past eventually and the chase was on the other way. Was debating lap 14 to come in for undercut when he disappeared from my rear-view mirror on final corner, so stayed out for another lap to make it easy on the softs.

    After that, ever-so-ronery for Robby.

  15. Very pleased after a day on the Tarka Line drinking real ale that I could even stay on track at all. Came out during pre-quali practice and went straight out into the fence without even braking and thought that’s it, then came out again, remembering that it’s the left foot you need to use as well as the right and started to focus and get to grips with the car. After the practice starts I knew I could race without being much of a hazard.

Not quite sure how I came 5th though, was driving far too carefully, fully aware that I was not quite as fully aware as normal.. if you know what I mean. Had good battle with not_weeb, he caught me really quickly on the 2nd stint then struggled to get past – gifted in the end by a nice freeze-frame at c8. Towards the end I felt I was just edging back but overall he was too quick for me.

Maybe all that carefulness was what helped me make it a 1-stop, the hypersofts were certainly good for the 1st 14 laps at my pace.

  16. Pensionisti/Church will run the race between them as I am away next Thursday.

Edit – 90% sure I won’t be there now. I “want” to be there cos in the practice race a) I ran accidentally in RECHARGE mode for over half the race losing 1.5/2 secs/lap b) consequently ran out of fuel on the big straight and had to get over the line using KERS (another 8 secs) c) am rubbish here and d) still won pretty easily.

I’ve a feeling next week might be different though.

  17. OK quali, surprised to get 4th place from it though. Looked after myself at La Source then cashed-in on Storm’s misfortune at Les Combes. Tried to hang onto Emil, but hopeless cause. Still on wings from Monza (13-5) and I’m thinking that was too low as I was getting reeled-in on the fast corners. So from then on it was survival mode – see some good laps out of ultras and go for it on supers.

Had good tortoise-hare race with not_weeb, already made up my mind that anyone who came up from that far behind was going past in all but the last few laps. He was close then disappeared twice and not too far behind at the end as well, but his final chase was a couple of laps too late.

Pleasing race, just wish like Pensionisti that I had a bit more pace.

  18. For sure we will be doing a season with 2019, maybe with consensus changing to it this season after more testing. I’ll try to get you daTa in same team if it’s practical.

  19. I think I would I have caught him with much fresher tyres – I was hunting both of you, then he was gone? Maybe we simply have 2 second places with points – I’ll do that if the system allows it as he was in 2nd when it happened. so 1st Storm 2nd me/muttley 3rd you….

  20. Too conservative at start and got stuck in traffic, but at least I was saving the ultras. According to logfile I collided with Pensionisti, but zero damage so it had to be tiny touch. Made ultras last 14 so I could finish the race on softs which were perfect, shoulda done 13-21.

Highlight was great fun battle chasing the Dragon. 12 laps left, piece-of-cake, reeling him in like a drunkard. 7 laps left, why can’t I catch him? 4 laps – I still don’t get this, this guy is so consistent! Then finally last few laps his tyres started to go and I made a last ditch effort on the final lap to get past.

Nice to have a few people on track again, means we finally have some work to do stewarding.

  21. Boring race for me once the weird braking issue kicked in and I panicked thinking it was the supersofts, but great fun before that battling with Seymohre and watching him fighting with Church behind me. Shoulda stuck out a 1-stop, I’d have worked it out eventually. Heyho, a bit more action for the video this week.

  22. Trout have air temp lower and track higher than us generally – not sure about night race. There are 3 coefficients you set up against the tyres for a particular car (which I have left alone, I just globally tuned the wear and cooling rate). 1 is transfer rate air to tyre, 2 is track to tyre, 3 is outside to inside, might even be a 4th to hub.

My point is, it’s different and I’m not clever enough to work out which gives you more grip, however air temp seems to play a bigger part than you would think and higher temps = less grip as a rule.

Like Jan last week, we all get caught out occasionally and I “think” it’s just those +/-2 variances air & track that do it.

  23. There is an alternate steering wheel layout which has the lap usage on it, you get this one by “turning the headlights on”, which I’m guessing you can do with this car even though there aren’t any. Curiously if I recall correctly, I dont think this one has gear or speed on it.

Intelliboost, if you use it, has a lap % left on it – pretty small mind. F1 2011 HUD sounds best though.

  24. Almost happy with mine, felt very nervous at start for some reason and was locking-up all over the place (it’s self-replicating once it starts). Slowly got into a rhythm and by then the leaders were long gone. Shame as my pace at the end showed that I could have given Jan a run for his money as he was struggling with the supers. He’ll sort it out, but it’s encouraging to see the fast guys struggle occasionally.

Great to see so many different strategies. None of them are ever perfect, which is what I like most about our set up.

  25. Tyres very sensitive, super was way the better tyre for me and lasted longer, but you’ve always been good on the harder compound. Extremely impressed with sophistication of Dominguez’ tyre modelling – but I will have a go at getting them to cool a bit quicker after spin-out.

  26. This track is tough tyre-wise and our rule that you start on ultras makes it even harder still, as all you really want to do on first stint is get rid of them. 1-stop US-SS or US-S is possible, but even with softs you need a good 10 laps on ultras to start. 2-stop US-SS-SS is also quick, but you may even decide to do a 2-stop US-S-S so you can dump the ultras earlier or 2-stop US-SS-S to get the undercut in.
The opening tyre won’t always be a “survival” tyre, but when it is it does seem to create more possibilities and strategy errors.

  27. Great race for me, but got outsmarted by the Germans again! Thought I was the one being clever starting out on the Softs for 11 laps. In retrospect, should have done both stints with softs but the money was definitely on Elgurke’s strategy, so big congrats to him for keeping such amazing pace on a single set of tyres. I said from the start that I wanted the car to be able to do no stops and finally got that wish, but I wasn’t the one smart enough to be doing it.

Big congrats to zee other German too, great season and really got this car working well. A big surprise too – the SF71’s tyres clearly held back his true pace last season.

Another congrat to Pensionisti, stuck it out and now has the pace – just need to find consistency in the race.

  28. The setup issue is something I’l have to compromise on as this is a bit of a joint-venture with the Trout guys and they might be keen on keeping the options. I will force the debate though as it is annoying when folk spend hours tuning the damper heights to gain an extra 10th – or lowering ride height to capitalise on a glitch in the aero curves etc.

  29. My view is that this is the best car we’ve ever had and were it not for my move I could have fettled the tyres mid-season to make that 0-stop more of a threat and the softs a more useful option.

Sadly our numbers suggest I’m wrong.

  30. Fun race, amazing what we can do with so few. Quickly realised that my false 2nd place was not going to last, but stuck it out to give my teammate a lead – Elgurke does it for his “brother”, I do it for “beer”. Finally made a mistake at corner 1, though it “felt” more like the kerb glitch thingy pulling me off the track. Was going to try the undercut on Elgurke but then he came in early and pissed on that fire, so decided to see how good the tyres were and whether they’d make the distance. They would have actually but the damage from Church’s nudge wouldn’t, so came in a bit late and immediately went 1.5 secs a lap faster but making no real gain on Elgurke. He had it in the bag, then next thing I know I get the yellow flag and wave goodbye to him as I go past into 4th place.

We did pretty well with the SC and great to finally get Andrzej involved, but let’s just remember to stagger the cars left-right-left-right like Storm and I did to avoid those little nudges.

  31. My race reflective of too little time available (and too much distraction) moving house. Balance was about right on empty tank and hence my best lap was the last one which is obviously wrong – 2 more notches of front wing would have been perfect.

Drove like an idiot at the start then settled in to annoy Elgurke for a fair while with lots of understeery blocking – great battle with him before the inevitable saw him get past – twice. After that, not enough mates left to fight with, so settled in for a nice comfy ride.

BTW Jan – you’re right, it is a sh** car, but according to Eddie Irvine it just means that ASR got it about right. It’s the toughest challenge we’ve had, the big shame is that it seems to affect framerate too much.

  32. I’ve had some great races with Monolith too – alas, it seems I need to wait for a new car for that again, but in the meantime Pensionisti is catching me up and he definitely has age on his side.

My race – weird. As you say, softs weren’t great (I sense a mid-season car update coming after Jerez;)) – I got into the “locking the fronts” trap first stint and each time you do it you ensure it happens on the next corner as the tyres don’t recover. Made my one big mistake of the race spinning out in front of the Dragon and it may have cost me a podium in the end.

2nd stint way better, but I was driving like a whoosy from the 1st stint. Took me too many laps to work out that driving like that wasn’t warming up the tyres enough and once it clicked it was a bit late.

Not a bad day all-in-all for the Pink team, hope we get better numbers next race.

  33. Makes sense now ;)

Well, maybe we should follow-up on my wrong answer – “the all-time greatest corner in F1”?

AND my vote is Brands Hatch “Sheen curve”, the most ridiculous leap of faith in F1.

  34. Can’t pick a favourite corner – Estoril, right-hander at END of lap where you nearly hit barrier, Silverstone-Copse/Stowe, Spa-Pouhon/Eau Rouge, Albert Park-big chicane, Hungary-blind, fast left-hander, RB Ring-esses, Brands Hatch, blind fast right-hander towards end, Jerez – fast double right towards end, Paul Ricard, fast long right-hander at end, Japan-esses (and great chicane at end), Laguna-corkscrew.

Favourite section-Silverstone-all sections apart from the Tilke bit, Catalunya-all sections apart from the Tilke bit, RB Ring – all sections apart from the Tilke bit….. Hmm, that talentless idiot has a lot to answer.

  35. Estrucan – ancient Italian civilisation. As Forli is in Italy and Forliring doesn’t exist, was trying to find something mythical to call it rather than another “Italian GP”.

Bad luck with the incidents, tricky car/track combo.

  36. All 3 cars have been updated, following feedback:-

    ASR F310 LS:-
    1. Balanced tyre wear
    2. Made brakes a bit beefier
    3. Tiny bit more stability
    4. Fuel rate adjusted so we could run races without refuelling and hence use Safety car.

    F2004:-
    1. Handling restored to its previous glory – low grip/traction from grooved tyres, huge power.
    2. Traction control enabled, but limited effect. Level 1 (default & highest level) is equivalent to level 7 when we used it previously in league.

    RSS 2018 S1:-
    1. Improved stability significantly over high speed kerbs
    2. Beefed-up the brakes

Server is now live with settings at 4x not 2x. This is to allow quicker testing of tyre wear etc and also makes for some fun races. Will change tracks once you’ve tested the differences – hope it’s mainly good

    Re-download the data.acds above.

  37. Of the three R’s, “reading” wasn’t my best one ;)

Maybe next summer we could do something starting with Lotus 49 and working through the ages though – 2 races per event.

I’m planning a Summer break from now as I’m about to be partner running a Guest House and hope to be a bit busy then.

  38. Can the extinguisher be removed – its not an essential feature. If you have the driver shown he only sticks his legs straight through it anyway.

  39. I am away for a week, so will change the track when I get back and maybe we can meet in chatroom then to discuss cars, any changes etc.

  40. The Deacon bloke’s race –

Kinda let my teammate past early so I didnt lose time fighting with him. Had Ali in chase, but the gap in front and behind me slowly got bigger. Couldn’t get any speed going 1st stint, but still stuck to 1-stop.

2nd stint I remember a short battle with Ali and a bit of bluff going into c1 to get past. Then remember putting a nice move on my teammate as he came out from his 2nd stop on cold tyres. Had a futile but fun battle with him as Syntax’s DNF had already guaranteed us the team championship – so I thought! Will do the Math next time ;( Anyway, that little battle might have cost us it in the end as he could well have caught and passed Church. Force India have already told me I’m never getting paid for this race!

Thanks for great season guys. We really need a few more, numbers get thin towards end of season. Will get some cars up on server soon for next season’s evaluation.

    Bobby

  41. the race for me – struggled with tyres a bit on 1st two stints, probably over-driving. Coretex got past me eventually on both stints, but I dived in a lap early each time and got the jump back on him.

Final stint, we suddenly had company ahead of us in the form of Syntax & Church then a very unfortunate collision between Coretex and Church put me in 3rd hunting down Syntax on the last few laps… needed just one more!

WD teammate, nailed the race strategy as ever.

  42. New Hockenheim is way better than the old one, though I do think there’s enough land there to have done something far more imaginative.

Apparently, I’m not as slow here as I used to be either – not quite sure what’s going on there either – will find out Weds.

  43. No rules apart from starting on softest compound. You could even 0 stop in theory.

Glad you enjoyed the race. We need a few more people, but I’d rather have quality than quantity. After we got back to the core drivers following some bad driving in a big field at Barcelona, I am once again happy to say that the guys we have now are the business!

  44. Seems like you all put on a good show without me around to add some boring midfield stability. Disappointed I couldnt race, I am actually quite good here nowadays and was going to do an easy 1-stop. It always helps when one of the good guys has to fight his way through the field.

Reckon the championship will go to the final race again.

  45. Sorry guys, I was in hospital til 4am this morning with dizziness, so won’t be racing later. I will let you decide if the race goes on or we postpone – my rule of thumb is “the show must go on”, but only if there are enough racers.

  46. I’m improving quali-wise, however race pace is consistent but subdued. Losing Syntax was a big blow to this race as it left Coretex without a buddy. Also, that fight might have bought the other two into the equation.

Not sure where the lag came from tonight, maybe it was my bugged DRS zone – apologies for that, I forgot to move 2nd detection point after 1st zone ends, which is unfortunately how AC works!

Looking forward to Silverstone, this car is so fast there even on softs.

  47. Mega out-of-the-blue quali lap – maybe it changes from 98% to 99% grip in a jump and I caught it at the end, because every corner was faster and I don’t know why.

Still mugged off the line as usual, but then settled nicely in a perfect slot behind Ali. We both had same idea I think, such a shame to give up that empty track – I was planning to dive in lap 5 and do 2 more soft stints but kept the ultras going for 11 laps instead.

Fast guys were soon past and somehow I got the jump on Ali in the pitlane. On these tyres he was definitely faster, so inevitably he got me eventually into the chicane. Then next thing I know, he’s spinning onto the main straight and I’m past again. Maybe he pushed too hard after that as he was reeling me in like a drunkard then suddenly going back 5 seconds. In the end Coretex got past him and gave me the scare of my life as I weaved my way past the blue flags on the final corners – really didn’t see him coming as I was in cruising mode with naff-all ERS until he was right on my case.

Great race from Kost Church, inevitable given the pace he has found.

  48. For me, I had a shocking race as seems to be the norm this season, but it helped me get involved in a great battle with Syntax and also Ali towards the end. Both battles ended in defeat, but were the best fun I’ve had this season by far.

Number 1 is that we were back to our best again as a unit – lots of respect & fair wheel-to-wheel. Proud of my boyz! Some good guys to come back next race too.

  49. It was a struggle with server issues, my PC at one point, getting everyone up-to-date with apps and a not brilliant Safety Car practice….

BUT next race will be a piece-of-cake as per normal again :)

Need to get folks to understand that with SC in place their race is not necessarily over after a crash – just jump into pits for my superfast repairs/fresh tyres, come out, get lucky with the SC and go from last to first as everyone else pits…. too many DNFs.

  50. Well, a terrible start from me but great start from my teammate. My changes to the tyre thermals seem to have been a self-inflicted wound. Quali showed I had some pace, but race was shocking – maybe the stress of server not working, Safety Car test not “ideal” etc. got to my driving. Dived in lap 7 to get rid of overheating supers (no surprise there), then I seemed to make an even bigger meal of the softs. Changed strategy to mediums for last stint and finally started driving OK, but all way too late.

Thanks to Coretex for making the race possible. We have absolutely no clue why the server wasn’t performing, but I guess it’s time to admit defeat on that front and go for a European solution with rackservice.

Pre-race will go much smoother at Monaco and a lot shorter, I promise!

  51. I watched Andrzej’ youtube vid last night and horrible the way you guy’s races ended – thank God Jan didn’t get stuck there too. Anyway, guess I was right to warn everyone about that corner, but you can see it’s such a great corner that we had to use that version of the track.

Big congrats to jan, I think he was up against it this year with Storm Cloud’s race pace and the difficulties he had sometimes with the opening tyre (I was actually catching him on opening stint at Nurburgring!!).

But MUCH BIGGER CONGRATS “of course” go to the “Force India” team – blitzed the lot of you ;)

Anyway, hoping we can keep and build on this core of drivers. I’ve never been 100% comfortable with the way we drive “as a unit” in the past. It’s never been bad of course, just always felt that we sometimes took too many risks in that rush to corner 1 and beyond. Without exception you were all brilliant this season!

  52. Hardly anything to investigate again – this particular mix of drivers is the best we’ve ever had IMO – and if Hermann Tilke had a clue how to design corners properly, we’d probably have been incident-free again.

If anyone has any friends of a like mind, let them know about us :)

I will make a statement on this waiting thingy before next race, just so we know where we stand – nothing changed, just seems there are some confusing grey areas.

  53. Nice race from me considering I was a huge sweatball with some kind of virus all evening (and still am now!). Drove like my mum all race, but one stop and very few errors was worthy of a good 4th place.

  54. I will be around as I am not well today, so no meeting. However, may still miss race if I’m feeling bad at 7:30 – just juggling the paracetamol tablets as I really want to race here and we appear to be a bit short.

  55. Nice to have an “event” free race for me, shame the field spread so much.

Also, apologies to Ali when he joined late – I didn’t notice him at all and like Storm Cloud said, we would have restarted if it was early on.

Also, big shame that Mostafa couldnt challenge for a podium, which I’m sure he would have with better connectivity.

  56. I had a play with the car and it is easy to make it slower of course, but the changes I made are not significant enough to warrant everyone replacing their data files, so I think we “KEEP THE CAR THE SAME” for the rest of the season.

Also, one thing I noticed at Melbourne is that they avoid kerbs like the Plague, where we take liberties – this is worth at least a second in lost time and I’m not changing the kerb behaviour as it such a relief to drive an AC F1 car that doesn’t react badly to them.

At the season end I will do something radical just to spice it up a bit – the key will be to get the back end “dancing” a bit, but also telling you what tune it’s dancing to.

DRS app is far more important!

  57. That’s actually the idea – this season has been a bit odd in that all the tracks have been high friction, so most races are survival tyre followed by race tyre. We havent had the chance to use hypers/ultras somewhere that really suits them. Next season would have Canada, possibly Monaco (would def need the SC there) and even Monza if we stretched it.

  58. PS:- I don’t have a clue with the DRS app – all I did was add a tiny bit of code. Basically, there is a section of where the app sends a chat message to say you’ve used DRS illegally – in there I inserted an “angry” beep.

I will seek the help of the master of code, “Rhobium”.

  59. Well, I had to guess with the car and the new compounds and now we know it’s a bit too quick. This is good because extra grip with AC is also a bit boring, so I’m gonna slow it down a bit today.

Hope you don’t mind all this tinkering, but I do want to make our experience as close as poss to the real thing.

  60. I think I am ahead going in and have 2 choices to avoid contact – either back out completely or go onto the grass. If it’s a corner, you are 100% right and me 100% wrong – but it’s not, it’s a chicane and someone has to bail out and I’m tired of that always having to be me. I also think that I will shut up 100% when the stewards discuss this as we have both said everything here and it’s unfair to influence them even 1% – in fact, maybe I shouldn’t be part of the stewarding at all, I already do enough.

  61. So pissed off, I’m not even loading anything up tonight. It’s not like me, but every time I got going again I’m battered off the park. For pace and strategy I know I should have battling Storm Cloud and jan probably succumbing on the last laps, but instead I’m a wounded soldier fighting at the back. 3 crashes all unavoidable and one frame freeze in the middle of an overtake.

Heyho, nice battles with Coretex & Syntax at the end. I did everything I could to hold them off, but had no car left!

Will be back to normal, calm, boring Bobby after a beer – or three :)

  62. The “boss” of Formula Trout, a league like ACLH which we might be forming a partnership with. Who’s ACLH? OK, perhaps I need to speak later – nothing mysterious, just more people who share our hobby.

  63. It’s a hard concept to grab that you can take away choices and it actually gives people more choices, though obviously not the ones they want ;)

For me, this race would be 1-stop Softs, end of Story and I know my teammate would do the same.

As it stands though, I don’t know what I’m going to do – see how long the ultras last I guess.

  64. This week is a classic case as without the rule everybody would probably do 1-stop softs.

With the rule, you can try 1-stop US,S (but you will have to manage the US) or 2-stop US + any combo of US/SS/S and you might even change strategy mid-stint if you are stuck in traffic – so a 2-stop US,SS,SS might change to dumping the USs early and going the rest on S to get the jump on the guys in front.

Would only impose this rule for full fuelling, with refuelling, boring strategies are inevitable.

  65. The tyre choice was quite aggressive again though! Mind you, woulda been a very simple 1-stop softs with softs-meds-hards as choice, so I think it’s right.

I promise an easier ride with the tyres at Melbourne.

  66. Belgian Hooligan :)

I think we need to do Atlanta every week – focus us on “the good side”. Thanks to Andrzej again for his streaming, so much more relaxing listening to him than being out there tonight.

  67. Bad day at office, bad day at track guaranteed – but not a bad day for Force India as my teammate finally made it around corner 1 and drove to a good strategy to win :)

Hope my general flatness of spirit didn’t rub off too much on you all – next stop Japan!

Congrats also to Church who is pulling through the ranks at the moment and Elgurke had a good race too.

  68. Fun race at start holding off the fast boys and seeing Jan struggle ahead of me for a change. Came in a lap after teammate to make sure track was clear. Was having the most boring race of my life then (not that it was a problem at all) when I got the 2 second screen-freeze and the screen came back to life in the gravel pit. Lost 7 seconds which was perfect to bring Church right on my tail for the last lap, so lots of stress watching him reel me in.

  69. A bit of me was dreading this race (this is a big departure from the standard Tilke F1 track), but surprisingly only 3 collisions to look at for the stewards in the whole race, so hats off to everyone for that.

My race – very conservative in both driving and strategy and that probably cost me one place – but who knows!

  70. I got rid of the one on the start-finish straight Oli, Cameron said it was too dangerous going into a flat-out corner and I agree. The game takes the DRS zones file from the server by-the-way and overrides the file you have on your hard drive.

  71. Big opportunity thrown away by me as my race pace was spot-on “for a change”. Alas, I spent 10 laps stuck in traffic (even after diving out of the traffic on lap 3 to find some space) and lost 2 – 3 seconds per lap. I won’t be running medium downforce here again. Anyway, great/frustrating (delete as applicable) fun trying to find a way past Husky that didn’t involve him sailing back past me again on the Kammel straight.

Stewarding will tell-all, but overall I’m quite proud of the way you all drove :)

RE: CAR CHANGES FOR NEXT WEEK – I have calmed down the fronts in particular, but unless I reduce downforce we are still going to get these big spikes in the high speed corners – Kunos are too clever for me with this thing called “physics”…. but I think these tyres make it really interesting especially with so many high-speed tracks this season.

For normal people who enjoy life :) please stop reading this now, but for those who are interested, here’s what I did/tried to do with the tyres>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>-

There are 3 co-efficients of friction you can adjust – I would describe them roughly as follows (though I am no physicist) – 1) “Traction” – friction through braking and accelerating (they call this one SURFACE_ROLLING, but really it’s traction) – 2) “Rolling” – I would call this “longitudinal” friction, heat built up by driving fast over the tarmac 3) “Friction” – more to do with lateral grip – if the car doesn’t slide, the heat has to go somewhere.

I figured quite logically that reducing 3) and increasing 1) & 2) would give me the desired effect of calming the tyres in high-speed corners. However after a lot of tuning & testing, even running 2) & 3) on zero and 1) “Traction” at a high-level, the overall results were very similar. Yes I drove out of the pits and by the end of the Kammel straight I had silly hot rears and freezing cold fronts, but by the time I had gone through Pouhon the fronts had gone crazy too – and a LOT more than the rears!

So back to square one! I kept the values as they were (which was basically the Kunos values, but I have 5 of them instead of 2 as Kunos were too lazy to make 5 “truly” different compounds.

Next I started to play with the heat transfer. Loosely speaking, there are two coefficients here:- 1) the heat transfer rate to the rubber in the tyre and 2) the rate of transfer from the rubber to the air/gas inside the tyre. By reducing 2) I managed to get more consistent results as this had the overall effect of warming and cooling the core temperatures in a slower and more progressive manner. They will take a bit longer to warm up, but probably not even enough to notice. This is what I stuck with in the end.

I could of course, simply reduce the overall heat and get them perfect for Spa – that was never going to be a problem, but the issue then is that even the Ultras could not get up to operating temperature on tracks like Monaco, Singapore & Abu Dhabi and I want our car to be better not worse than the Kunos version in this respect.

Anyway, now I have “some” insight into how difficult this is for Pirelli and that’s for sure why they went for much harder compounds last season, just to give themselves a break!

Edit – I could also have widened the operating ranges, but that’s a bit of a cop-out. Still an option though.

  72. Haas is available, will update server later. Important stuff – Discord is used for all pre-race comms – not speaking is an option, but not listening (apart from when I’m waffling) isn’t :) – Link on right.

ACRL DRS app – use our version. FtF Rules app also mandatory. Server can be found by typing “flag” into search. Hope you can make Spa.

  73. Good stuff – make sure you have all the apps and the data.acd and join us on server any time for practice – just put “Flag” into server search. Password is on Discord which is used for all race communications. Discord link is on the right.

  74. What I really like about no refuelling and starting on the softest compound is it allows you to think on your feet.

In practice I was burning up the front left tyre on the softs within a few laps, so decided I was going to 2-stop and get onto mediums very early on.

In race I got held up a bit in traffic at the start and realised that the tyres were not bad at all, so once I got clear I tried backing off a fraction in Copse and Stowe and the tyre kept going. Came in finally on lap 11 for a 1-stop.

  75. Well, I thought that my version of Intelliboost app had given me an advantage last week which I took gratefully, but it seems the “Captain” isn’t quite so “Slow” in this car as there is nothing to gain boosting at Silverstone.

Soon be back in midfield, but enjoying it whilst I can.

  76. Final tweaks made to SF70H (servers updated), please re-download the data.acd:- https://flag-to-flag.com/download/sf70-h-physics/

    1) Fine-tuned tyre thermals so that ultras run a bit cooler & hards a bit hotter (should bring all compounds into use over the season).
    2) Ride-height scales brought into line, plus fine-tuning of rear height now possible
    3) ARB range tightened slightly (ARB=0 gave too much traction before).

Skin pack also available here (just unzip and copy these into the ks_ferrari_sf70h skins folder):-
    https://flag-to-flag.com/download/sf70-h-skin-pack/

    Sign-up post coming soon!

  77. Give Estoril a run for it’s money some time guys – it’s probably the highest quality modded track there is, really suits these cars and a feel similar to Brasil – easy to learn, hard to learn well.

Once you start to hook it up, it gets better and better and has the best entry sequence into the main straight since Tilke ruined Mexico.

  78. 1st race will be jan 24. There will be 1 or 2 practice races beforehand.

Car – TBC, the F2004 is a contender even though we don’t normally run the same car consecutively.

Sorry, I know I’ve answered you on Discord, this is really for other’s benefit.

    WATCH THIS SPACE!

  79. Nice battles tonight, shame I didn’t have pace to hold off Church longer at the end. Could blame the fact I was using Hards, but don’t think that was a problem tbh.

Sorry I didn’t get chance to hold up Jan for my teammate – I doubt I’d have managed more than a couple of turns anyway had he come out behind me on his 1st stop.

Great season from Jan as ever, well done to Storm Cloud for all his recovery races, nice to see Thomas join right in the mix and big congrats to Coretex for finding so much more pace.

Great to have some really good new guys in midfield as well. Don’t practice too much, I need you for next season and I don’t want leaving behind!

  80. Servers are up for last minute practice Alistair. There is an issue with timing-stats which I’ve informed our server host about, but probably best NOT to know how fast some guys are going :)

  81. Really pleased with how well everyone responded tonight – even the practice starts were “mostly” clean – so much less hectic, but we still raced competitively.

Had great battle with ysag at start until the kerb glitch chucked me off and nearly took him/Storm Cloud with me. Sorry for holding you up BTW, I kept nailing the exit if not the entry, but clearly a big speed gap between us!

Then had a nice run-in towards the end with Kost Church just as things seemed to be getting quiet.

  82. Have downloaded crew chief, very clever software working over all those games.

I have changed this in assettocorsa.ini from FOV=10 BTW

    [MIRRORS]
    FOV=15

The blindspot is reduced, maybe even eliminated. Also, if people don’t think it’s realistic enough, I would point out that Vettel’s mirror in real F1 is definitely curved not flat.

  83. As I said (and Amereto) – they don’t work for me. I am hopeful that I can find a good mirror FoV which covers more angle with my discovery above – well its new to me. If I get it right, might even be able to see DRS wing opening with SF70H.

  84. In assetto_corsa.ini there is this section. I’m going to have a play with it, but looks like its global for all cars – a wider FoV will reduce blind spots:-
    …………………………………………..

    [MIRRORS]
    FOV=10
    FAR_PLANE=400

  85. I can’t get HC to work on triple screen (or just problem with my PC) – and the app with guy who shouts out “car on yer’ left”, “clear on yer left” doesn’t seem to work either – but TBH, with triple screen, I rarely don’t know if someones’ there or not.

  86. I agree with your sentiments 100% and the “rush for corner 1” does get me down a lot, especially after the number of times in the past that I have preached coast-and-lift – I even felt myself sucked into this at Mexico. I too was tagged twice on lap 1 yesterday just “minding my own business” and had a horrible car until I came in for repairs.

HOWEVER, there are two sides to any coin and I am NOT judging you to blame for any of your last 3 big incidents (2 are still open to stewards anyway, so I can’t) BUT there are some people who would say you didn’t leave a lot of room.

Please at least look at these to see the different POSSIBLE viewpoint – it doesn’t detract from the fact that we have two many “torpedos” though :)

    http://flag-to-flag.com/gdl.php?id=1C36TXzKhLkCmCiVUk8sMsgY1BcF0A7YH

  87. Singa is a shame too, but maybe they are still “posturing”, we’ll soon find out. I’m not mad about the track, but its such an amazing thing to do in the middle of the night through the heart of a big City.

  88. There was also some lag – it will all get investigated by stewards:-

Your contact with Storm Cloud occurred 6m earlier than his contact with you, which means basically that you got a bigger hit than he actually gave you.

  89. I’m guessing you’re a friend of Marcel, if so he can fill you in on details. Do you want a regular seat or will you be guesting every couple of races or so (which is fine BTW :))?

  90. Good choice – we’ll get you a teammate as soon as we get even numbers again. Make sure all the apps are installed (downloads are on race post) and join server any time for practice. Also join us on Discord on Wednesday as that’s our only way of letting everyone know what’s going on.

  91. Sounds like you found a track glitch, but pitstops are always an issue when you start. Wait til you overrun the box, then reverse, then forget you’re in reverse and pull away backwards – doubt there’s anyone who hasn’t done that :)

  92. Made a one-stop and it “just” paid off, did feel like a sitting-duck though.

I think the balance with fuel/pitstop timing etc is perfect and puts 1-2 stops within seconds of one-another – this is gonna be a good season for us all, the car Kunos has made is not accurate (it has way too much grip for the era) but its great fun.

  93. Welcome on board :-

    Check out the downloads above.
Our AC server is found by typing “flag” into search.
Discord is used on race day for all communications and is mandatory.

Select your favourite 3 skins from the list above and we’ll find you a teammate unless you already have one in mind.

If enough turn-out, Cameron is running a race event tonight at Malaysia, so you’re welcome to join in. I don’t think many have practised ther, so shouldn’t be at too much of a disadvantage :)

  94. Only 5 days to go, so choose your cars (and teammate if you have one) now – skin colours are as follows (choose top 3 skin preferences):-

    FtF Toro Rosso – Blue-red
FtF Force India – Pink – white
FtF Jaguar – Racing Green – white
FtF Jordan – Yellow – black
    FtF Mercedes – Grey-Turquoise
FtF Red Bull – Dark Blue-yellow
    FtF Renault – Sky blue-yellow
    FtF Sauber – Blue-sky blue
    FtF Williams – White-blue

  95. I think this is also AC physics – it still doesn’t quite allow properly for the big, fat, soft, squidgy tyres (or drivers, in my case) that F1 has. I think that’s why all the good F1 mods including ours have such low pressures – that’s why I did it anyway, to take a bit of the sting out of kerbs.

  96. Looking forward to this one despite the recent demise in my own driving. Clever/simple idea to put a big black dome around the City to block out the sun then turn some lights on to make it look like it does in real life – not sure why the Bahrain & Abu Dhabi night track modders didn’t do this.

Make sure you have reflections set to as high a level as your GPU will take.

  97. Just a single F1 league at the moment. We may start running 2 leagues again in the future, but lots of possibilities including F1 2017 which is starting to get much better reviews. Whatever, we hope to get a sim league alongside a more “fun” league going at some point.

  98. We look into all incidents and unsafe returns to track are high on the list, but I’m not prejudging in this case.

I don’t know what the best level is, we have had some races where someone has been punted off the track due to lag, for example – in that case the “offender” has no impact and would carry on with no damage at all (no matter what % you set) whilst the “victim” carries on with an uncontrollable rear end.

We will review, maybe others have an opinion?

  99. As you probably know, Ive been away and just got back now. Will attend to above later this week.

Any new guys who wants to race, just turn up later and we will fit you in. Make sure you’re signed into Discord server & have all the apps.

  100. Shame there weren’t more of us tonight as this was the most interesting race strategy-wise so far:-

Softs-Mediums proved the best, but it wasn’t easy at all – I was panicking big-time at the end.
Softs-Hards would have been piece-of-cake, but the hards grain quite a bit and simply aren’t fast even though they last forever.
Softs-Meds-Meds probably the best time-wise, so long as you don’t get stuck in traffic
Softs-Softs-Softs also OK, but the front left blisters, so you’d get a fast start to each stint and struggle towards the end.
Some also did Softs-Meds-Softs, only problem being that extra stop.

…and with the old system, we’d have all done one stop Mediums.

Enjoyed the race, but really thought I’d mucked it up big time when I span-out early on the mediums – I simply forgot to short change out of turn 3. Luckily Jakki was all over me one lap too late to steal 2nd place, but last two laps felt like the car was going to go on me any time with about 93% grip at the end.

  101. Great to have you on board. Note all the apps you need above plus Discord is used for all race comms (compulsory) – server is here https://discord.gg/FGvrE8d

To find our AC race server for practice/race, type “Flag” into online search and we should be there. Note the “data.acd” for the SF15-T has been altered, this car is much quicker than the SF15-T, but still “feels like” an SF15-T.

  102. Well, that went as bad as I can do I think – strategy wrong, got undercut by Coretex and too low wings. Nice battles with my teammate and great fun trying to hold Marcelinho off at the end. I nearly did it too as he couldn’t really get a run on me.

  103. Post-event thoughts from me:-

It is clear that the RSS didn’t go down well “overall” given the number of spin-outs and quits. The post-race poll was 80% against it as well.

However, its also clear that the SF17T needs more work and some characteristics of the RSS are actually favourable. I don’t think it’s the grip per-say, it’s more the “tightness” for want of a better word – it’s too tight. I will adjust accordingly (preserving the “fun” element), get some testing done & post the next event/update server ASAP for Canada test.

  104. You did well and great to have you on board. Join us on Discord next time (server Flag-to-Flag) and make sure you have all the apps mentioned in post (we do all our race communications by Discord). We weren’t quite on the same mission tonight as you may have gathered, but that’s fine :)

  105. Enjoyed the racing and especially the novelty of driving the SLS. The Dallara is a great drive as ever, I think that steering ratio needs adjusting though – 5 minutes job to fix it.

  106. So grateful you guys could at least get together and see the season off this weekend.

I never lost my enthusiasm, simply have had issues with a “life” that starts around 7pm on a Friday and ends the same time on a Sunday. This will be fixed next season!

Looks like some still had a great race and look forward to putting together the final video.

  107. There’s one race left this season, so a bit late to form a team. However, with the championship decided it’s a perfect time for you to join in and see whether you like us or not :)

The server is available 24/7 for practise, use of Discord is mandatory on race days – it’s our means of communication (when my headset works!). Password for server is in chat heading. Ftf rules app also mandatory. Any other info is also above.

Great to see new faces on track.

  108. You’ve just joined the “Reprimand” club – membership is compulsory. We just have to get my teammate Ninja on-board now (think that’s why he’s rarely seen, wants to keep his clean sheet)!

There were other things that surprised me at San Marino a lot more than your minor incident. Hope they were a one-off folks ;)

  109. Hardly made any mistakes – which is a sure sign that I was back in “Captain Slow” mode :(

Fastest grid we’ve had this season, hope some of the “medium-paced” guys make a return for the last 2 races.

  110. Pleased with my pace, defo not Captain Slow in this car. My race craft on the other hand – very naive driving! 3rd was more than in the bag. At least we seemed to have a couple of bunches to keep it interesting.

  111. The pit thing is fine, I was just expecting a bit more imagination from Kunos really. They have held back the D-pad/arrow keys from us for years (would have been nice to use them to adjust brakes forward/back, for example) and I was hoping that when they finally revealed why they reserved them, it would be for something more than just a copy of pitconfig.exe with tyre pressures added.

Melbourne is great fun, not a shitty Tilke corner in sight.

  112. Great stuff, see above for details of FtF app, Discord/server details etc.

One heads-up with this car by-the-way, we are pretty much all using stability control (and a touch of traction too). It’s not very “sim-like” to do this, but there’s something odd with the geometry of this car when you clip an inside kerb, so I do recommend it as the behaviour is more realistic with than without IMO.

Join server any time for practice, it’s up 24/7

  113. Yes Milvus, there is still room. Make sure to install the FtF rules app and download our physics update to the VRC car – all in discussion above.

Race days requires us all to use Discord (it’s our communication tool), server is https://discord.gg/FGvrE8d

Join server any time for practice – put “flag” into search to find us.

  114. Gutted I can’t make the race again, but other things take precedent sometimes and a weekend of beer and curry in Brum beats most things in my book.

My enthusiasm for this league certainly isn’t waning, normal service will be resumed :)

  115. Welcome on board, The rules app/car physics/skin pack is above and the track is on the race event post which is the first thing you see when entering the flag-to-flag site.

Join server any time for practice, password is in Discord at top of #chat

  116. Yes it is, consider it done. Be sure to download & activate the FtF Rules app http://flag-to-flag.com/download/ac-ftf-rules-app/ and our physics/skins for the VRC FW31 http://flag-to-flag.com/download/ac-williams-fw31-physics-update/

Also, we use “Discord” for all our race communications – the Discord server is “Flag-to-Flag”. The password for the AC server is at the top of the #chat window, feel free to join for practise any time (put “flag” into AC search to find it).

  117. Looks like it was another fairly epic race and with fewer lagged incidents than last week. Great effort especially from the new guys who seemed to all want to do things the right way. Given that my first few laps put me back in the field, it meant I was able to race with most of them first hand.

Also interesting to see a 1-stopper actually working well plus a mixture of people who sacrificed a little bit of laptime in exchange for better overtaking with lower wing settings.

Had some good tussles with Cameron & Toolo and an epic chase at the end with Hunter!

  118. Hi Tolomb, join the server any time for practice. For the weekend you will need our stewarding app installed and activated in-game –
    http://flag-to-flag.com/download/ac-ftf-rules-app/

you will also need our version of the car physics file which needs to go into /content/cars/fc1_2009_williams_fw31 –
    http://flag-to-flag.com/download/ac-williams-fw31-physics-update/

we are still using version 1.3.8 which is here:-
    http://flag-to-flag.com/download/ac-williams-fw31/

  119. One of my favourite tricks is to install the cars in the wrong place – make sure the path for the fc1_2009_williams_fw31 folder is correct –

    \steamapps\common\assettocorsa\content\cars.

The Williams icon should appear very near the end of the list.

  120. What’s good is you have company this season, last season was top heavy. Also, nobody there was slow including yourself – we’re all quick! …..but yes it does come as a shock when you meet the Shayans, Ravens & Piots of this World.

Bad news is we also have Emil our current champ, Jan Frajbis, Storm Cloud will be quick again, Coretex seems quicker too, Ton is fast if he practises, my teammate Ninja can also win races, Max Verstappen is no slouch, Waffen is proper fast, Rhobium on his days away from college is right up there and the old man Yuck has his day too.. and no doubt I missed someone from that list!

First target is get past me – won’t take as long as you think :)

  121. Well, I just loaded the video up to see what kind of race people had and looks like there was a lot of fun in the midfield, which is great. I also saw a lot of respectful driving which usually means that the new guys have some experience, so all bodes well for the season.

Shame for me that my pace was in-between the front and midfield, so once I got past Bolea it was a bit lonely, but I have a feeling the midfield will catch me by the time we get to the Nuerburgring.

  122. The car that the modders are developing with us (there are a few small problems with ground clearance etc) is the non-KERS version, so that is the default until we have tested the updated KERS version. Yes, we would like to use KERS, so long as the mods are up to scratch.

The modified data.acd will be posted shortly in the Race Event for the Saturday test at Mugello.

  123. Saw you all signed in when I got home from mum’s, but had been on the road for nearly 6 hours by then. By the time I joined T/s, Discord you were all done and dusted.

Nice videos, lots of good carnage :)

  124. We could try this sometime December, with a track that improves quite quickly it would be kind of like going from wet to dry. As Rhobium says, tyres will simply get better rather than needing a change of compound.

PS:- Not a stupid idea, we’re all craving the stuff we took for granted with Codemasters’ F1 – though not the crappy physics etc :)

  125. Got swarmed first few corners towards back end of grid, then too much downforce meant I couldn’t get past Milan early on – stayed on his case til softs started to go, but couldn’t break him – well done!

Undercut onto mediums finally sorted that battle out, but no pace whatsoever on them – don’t understand why.

  126. This would require some more code in the FtF rules app (I’m assuming) just to check people remember, but I totally agree – if it could be achieved. We could then also consider 200% tyre wear as no-one could just do two hard stints any more.

  127. This is what I want too Storm Cloud, but it assumes that the tyre physics and the modded track’s surface are realistic too – which they clearly aren’t. Picking the temps to match the race conditions/tyres is far more realistic in my opinion – would you want to do Singapore on hard tyres, for example? You would have to with realistic air temps (and for that matter air temps , which we also have set low).

  128. What I’d suggest is this – we decide in advance which tyres we should “aim for” and it should reflect the real life choices as best as possible. It won’t be that accurate as surfaces/track layout varies, but something like this:-

    • SS & S – 10 degs
    • S & M  – 17 degs
    • M & H – 24 degs

    What do people think?

  129. It was originally at 10 degs on the server, changed quickly to 20 degs, so that’s probably the half second. It does also seem that an increase of 10 degs in air temp adds roughly 10 degs to the running tyre temps.

  130. This makes a lot of sense.

    So –

    • SS: Just about viable at 10 degs.
    • S: Again, only at low temps
    • M: Work well at high temps
    • H: Work well at very high temps.

Seems like there’s no middle ground for this tyre model – has to be hot for Ms & Hs, has to be cold for Ss & SSs.

  131. Enjoyable race, but damage limitation for em from the moment my front wing turned the same colour as the Renault on the Kemmel straight accident. Lacking front downforce made the car very stable, but way too slow in the middle section.

Remember some nice wheel-to-wheel with Storm Cloud (epic “Verstappen” overtake at Blanchimont!) and Coretex, plus myself and Rhobium running our own version of the “Tortoise n Hare” with the tortoise winning for a change.

Great to see a newcomer victorious first time out, hopefully we will give him a run for his money as the season progresses.

  132. Chat post race will be good. I would personally like to have everything scaled correctly (including fuel), however I have to say that IF we could enforce a stop, then 1x tyres would give us far more options – literally.

  133. A tip for tonight – decide what fuel you need for the race (I’ll be using 100 litres). Divide that by the number of laps (100/29 = 3.45 litres/lap for me). Use that value to manage your fuel during the race – if you dip below, you can rev more etc.

  134. I’ll be 2-stopping. I agree it would be nice if you could increase the speed limit a bit in pits so that the pitstop duration is a little bit closer to 50% as well.

If we changed tyre wear to 100%, we would still have same problem as you could zero-stop then.

  135. nice, so we could go with double fuel rate and then we’re getting closer to real life, so to say! Then you might plan a 1-stop on hards, find you’re struggling and come in early for 2 medium/soft stints without having to panic with pitconfig to stop it over-fuelling you like now. The tyres would become totally fluid, rather than fixed intervals like now.

  136. Refuelling – test. Just like F2002, has hardly any impact on pitstop duration so a 3-stop will require a quarter of the full fuel, 2-stop a third, 1-stop half. Is there any way anyone knows of that we can block refuelling on the server as its another part of the sim aspect of F1 (starting race on a heavy car-finishing light) that would be nice to have?

  137. Same view here Cameron, for straight wheel-to-wheel racing like we’ve been doing for years, the F138 is by far the best car….but for something completely different and like nothing else we’ve ever done, the SF15 is amazing.

PS:- Also, the geekier it is the more chance BobbyGeeks has – not that he really does have much chance.

  138. Having my best race of the season until it came to an incredible end, was really looking forward to final laps battling with the Ninja. After the incident, downforce seemed to be just about OK, but wouldn’t go around the tight corners at all. Had fun holding Mystro off for a consolation 5th place.

PS:- Just been through the collisions for stewarding (updating our spreadsheet with times etc) and wow, have we come on a long way since Day 1 – proud of you all!

  139. Apart from us admins nobody really looks at this thread, so use the main chat box on right side of homepage and maybe just say “I’m gonna be on server later at x pm European Time, anyone around?”.

BTW, I use AI as well for race practice (set track to green at start) and make sure tyre wear, temps match server. As we do quali and start race at 98% grip, its always worth putting in some hot laps and stints on server to confirm your tyres will last.

  140. Great result for Emil, so gutted I couldn’t do anything but panic and replace data cables, press reset buttons and sit on the phone waiting for Plusnet to answer! Just tidying it all up now.

On the big plus side, when I spectated on my 3x screens it all looked f*ing awesome and great turn-out too. I don’t think real-Sochi today will be anywhere near as good as FtF Sochi :)

  141. havent tried mediums yet, with softs I was getting front wear 4x faster than rears yet core front temps remained below 80deg – tried lots of setup changes to little effect. Not sure I like what theyve done, seems more like drift racing than F1 now, maybe sochi is the problem…gonna try mediums now

  142. More fun than I’ve had in years of league racing – a couple of unfortunate bumps put me out of the hunt, but without them I’d have probably sat in 4th or 5th place all race getting bored out of my skull.

  143. Damn, Ive had this too – just the once, hoped it was a one-off glitch. Just sat their in pits unable to change gear or accelerate – all inputs apart from keyboard dead.

Think Rhobium needs to write one for us Emil

  144. We will try different things over the test races to see what we can do with the rear tyres, but some seem to be coping better than others and we don’t want to take that away from them either. At the same time, the general concensus seems to be that softs are pretty useless and it would be nice to find a solution that brings them more into play.

  145. Same problem for everyone, we will have it sorted by the start of the season. This car needs more grip until the devs fix the rear temps, which I think they will – they seem really keen.

Tonight goes ahead as per practice. I managed to adjust setup so I could get 7 really good laps out of softs and 9 OK ones. I thought I’d cracked it, then tried same setup using mediums and got barely 6 laps from them.

  146. Birthday present means I’ll be away in about 2 hours and not back for weekend – I knew something was going on. We are also away 27th with no room in car for T300. Interesting to see how the Ferrari stacks up for league racing, it’s awesome to drive but likes pointing the wrong way sometimes as well.

    I’ll be back – have fun :)
